What is Q-Parts Certification?

Q-Part Certification refers to parts that have been certified by one of the major independent automotive parts certification groups, such as CAPA, Thatcham, TÜV Rheinland or E-Mark. Parts that are labelled Q-Part Certified are produced for your make and model for OE equivalence fit, form and function and then verified at all production levels (design, material, and construction). Q-Part Certified parts are sold with markings and branding that aligns with the parts manufacturer.

You would receive a headlight assembly in TYC packaging and the part itself will have TYC markings. What are Aftermarket Parts?

Aftermarket parts refer to parts that have been manufactured to meet OEM fit, form and function by the parts manufacturer. Aftermarket parts are sold with markings and branding that align with the parts manufacturer.

Why Aftermarket for my vehicle?

Aftermarket parts are built to meet OEM fit, form and function, but the manufacturer has chosen to verify the quality with an internal quality assurance process. The independent verification process increases the manufacturing expense of the product. This means that parts internally quality assured by the parts manufacturer can be significantly cheaper than Genuine parts.

What Does Genuine Mean?

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer, referring to vehicle manufacturers such as Nissan, Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, and Renault for example. Parts that are labelled as OEM are parts produced for, or by the OEM, and sold with markings and branding that aligns with the vehicle manufacturer.

How can I tell a part is Genuine?

For example, if you order an OEM/Genuine headlight assembly for your Volkswagen, you will receive a headlight assembly in the Volkswagen branded box, and the part itself will have Volkswagen branding. These products will be as originally fitted to your vehicle when it rolled off the factory assembly line.
